Curtain Blackout Rate Choices

Curtain Blackout Rate Choices

Flynn Chen|

Living Room: 50%-60% blackout. A living room can benefit from natural light, so it doesn't need to be overly dark. Choosing curtains without blackout lining or opting for a single layer of thick sheer fabric is sufficient.

Master Bedroom: 80%-90% blackout. Since the bedroom needs to support sleep quality, a higher blackout rate is beneficial for better rest.

Elderly Room: 70%-80% blackout. Generally, older adults don’t require a high blackout rate because they tend to wake up early and enjoy the natural light of dawn.

Children's Room: 60%-70% blackout. For young children, it’s advisable not to choose curtains with excessive blackout capability, as some natural light is beneficial for their vision development. Ideally, the room should allow enough light for children to wake up naturally with the sun.

Home Theater: 90%-100% blackout. A home theater usually features a projector, so complete darkness is essential. In this area, we should select fully blackout curtains or shades.
